Culinary-historical attraction in the Restaurant “Zum-Hirschenwirt”: the "Original Franz Xaver Gruber & Joseph Mohr Menu"

The taste of 200 years of "Silent Night, Holy Night"

Ladies and Gentlemen,

This year, the world-famous Christmas carol "Silent Night, Holy Night" celebrates a memorable anniversary: it was first performed 200 years ago in Oberndorf near Salzburg. Reason enough for the restaurant “Zum Hirschenwirt” to honor this event with a culinary celebration: with the "Original Franz Xaver Gruber & Joseph Mohr Menu", named after the two authors of the carol.

The menu is based on extensive research into the historical source. The individual dishes were gleaned, with academic support, from historical shopping lists, diary entries and chronicles - all ingredients were eaten or bought by one of the two gentlemen at that time. The outward sign of the protected tradition is the patented and certified brand "Original Franz Xaver Gruber & Joseph Mohr Menu".
